THere is a lovely article in a Newsweek from a couple of weeks ago about Billy Graham. I have never been a big fan, and read this because a friend of ours chaired the recent Baltimore Graham crusade, probably the last time Billy Graham will speak, and he spoke so highly of everything about Rev. Graham.

Having heard the dogmatic statement about the only way to God being through Christ so often in the past, I was struck by the humility and great wisdom of Graham's reply to a question about this. He is hardly a man ignorant of theology or filled with "dark intent":

He is sure
and certain of his faith in Jesus as the way to salvation, but when asked
whether he believes heaven will be closed to good Jews, Muslims, Buddhists,
Hindus or secular people, Graham says: "Those are decisions only the Lord
will make. It would be foolish for me to speculate on who will be there and
who won't ... I don't want to speculate about all that. I believe the love
of God is absolute. He said he gave his son for the whole world, and I
think he loves everybody regardless of what label they have."
