Etron Technology Sees Memory Chip Annual Sales Up 40%, CT Says

Taipei, Sept. 28 (Bloomberg) -- Etron Technology Inc., Taiwan's largest designer of memory chips, expects annual revenue to reach NT$5 billion ($159 million), an increase of about 40 percent over last year, the China Times Web site reported, citing Chairman Nicky Lu.

The increase will come mainly from stronger sales of static random access memory and dynamic random access memory chips, the report said.

Etron's low-power SRAM chips manufactured by Taiwan's Powerchip Semiconductor Co., are probably selling to Intel Corp. and two unnamed customers in Japan's mobile phone business. The company is also starting production of double data rate DRAM chips, the report said.

Etron's Nicky Lu is a former employee of International Business Machines Corp. who was involved in that company's first memory chips.
