I have to agree with Patrice here; DVC is being adopted by TV stations all over as the new standard for ENG. Because it starts as a digital format, it already has a lead over any of the analog systems (Betacam, M-2, Hi-8). And new products are coming out at this NAB which would allow one to keep the video in the digital domain (no generation loss) throughout the post-production process. All at a very low cost of entry and ownership. You'll be able to edit (cuts only) on any standard computer with a very inexpensive card ($500-$1,000). This is great for cutting news. Add in a DVC or DVCam deck that can output this digital stream at 4 times real time, and you've got a very compelling system.
