Tim, a few points.
1. I don't think your lone post moved the stock. It was oversold after earnings and is just responding normally.
2. It makes me uncomfortable to think that someone who owns so many shares would post specific advance warnings in a public forum. I call it hype, pure and simple. It's like a bookie recommending a horse. Not only that, it does nobody any good to build in expectations that aren't met. Luckily, nobody I talked to believed it anyway. I would rather be surprised by news, not anticipating it only to have it not materialize. You could've said "soon" instead of a specific date. Why DID you take that chance in the first place? I am NOT wrong. You did hype. If it had come true, it wouldn't be hype. By my definition, hype is a promise broken. You were very specific, and incorrect. Sorry.
3. If the report you're referring to is by Meyers, or Myerson, big deal. They've both been in this one a long time. Their recommendations haven't done anything this far, so I won't be immpressed if it's one of these firms again. Someone new? That would be a welcome change. You did say "reiterate" so I assume it's one of these two. I'll take it, but not impressed.
4. $14 target? Are they nuts? This stock is worth 16 right NOW if given an industry PE of 20. Why put out a buy rec at such a low target? That basically says out loud, "it's undervalued, but it still isn't worth a PE equal to others in the industry." If you in fact have a part in any firm controling shares and issuing buy recomendations, why not tell everyone based on 1.20 est for 97, it should trade at 24 in a year based on a PE of 20. Why not scream UNDERVALUED? I'll take 14 in 6 months, but let's get some attention! What's a buy rec for?
5. OK, so I was rough with the language. You could've gained my respect much more easily though with informative posts, not promises to be broken. If you had just said "soon" instead of putting a date on it, let alone making a second prediction about a CHEM deal Friday, I could've tolerated that. If you are the gentleman you want us to think you are, then you'll understand my revulsion of what I call hype and see my side of it. I've learned many lessons based on posts like yours in the past. Can you criticize my skepticism? I don't think so.
6. I don't do more than follow this company. I'm not a wealthy person with connections to brokerages. I have very little in the way of real information to contribute to this board. You, on the other hand, may be an insider, and next week I may see you were right, and you'll be a hero. Until then, if we're going to occupy this thread, I'll apologize for my language (not my justifiable disappointment), if you promise to be a little more careful when alerting us hopeful stockholders to good news. OK? Friends again. |
