The accelleration of Pentium 4 makes a lot of sense to me. Since demand 1H01 is going to be lower in any case why not capture greater market share.

How expensive could it be? Reduce gross margins from 63% to 61%?

It also has the side benefit of making life somewhat more difficult for AMD.

Sounds like a no brainer to me.
