No bites on High Island open season

Wire reports

Enterprise Products Partners said it received no bids for firm capacity on the High Island gas system in the US Gulf of Mexico and may abandon compression facilities.

Enterprise may file with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to abandon compression facilities and reduce its certified capacity on the High Island Offshore System because of reduced demand, the company said in a Web site posting.

In September, Enterprise said a platform on the system needed “significant capital” to be repaired following an August fire, according to a Bloomberg report.

Houston-based Enterprise conducted a so-called open season to gauge shipper interest in the line.

“Please be assured that Hios is able to and will continue to provide service to its existing firm shippers using its existing facilities,” the company said.

“Hios will provide interruptible transportation service as capacity permits.”

The Hios pipeline, which has a capacity of 1.8 billion cubic feet per day, transports gas to the US from fields in the Galveston, Garden Banks, West Cameron, High Island and East Breaks areas.

It delivers the fuel to the US Gulf Coast via connection points to other gas systems.
