He blew it when he failed to do what any decent person would do- come clean about the facts in his possession, where someone's life was at stake. I doubt he killed Chandra (but who knows?) but he wasted precious police resources on himself, AND delayed the investigation. I cannot imagine how I would feel if one of my children were missing. I would be overcome with anger at someone who did what he did. I can understand why he did what he did, but I still think he is horrible.
