Mephisto, sorry I have been so long in responding. This little period of getting my daughter ready for the beginnig of school is not NEARLY so difficult as figuring out when on earth I am going to have time to post very much if I am getting up earlier, cooking healthy breakfasts full of whole grains and fresh fruits, bagging gourmet lunches daily, devoting my evenings to providing a quiet, nurturing environment favoring excellent homework production, and going to bed earlier because these days are more exhausting all around!
Anyway, did you actually see any of the movies you have been talking about recently? I heard that "She's So Lovely" is really good, and I think Penn and Wright are great actors. Did anyone see "Colors" incidentally? A very violent movie, but Penn was wonderful in it. "My Best Friend's Wedding" did not get very good reviews for the most part, but audiences loved it. I think it is a little of a woman's movie (that's fine with me)!!! "Air Force One" sounds hoaky, but the reviews were excellent!!! For some reason I am too tired right now to analyze, I tend to identify with terrorists more often than with presidents or patriots. So I am afraid to see it at the theatre--I might cheer at the wrong scenes!!
I read that whole article in "People" with Di on the cover, and did not find out much that was new, exept that Dodi is arms dealer Adnan Koshaggi's (sp?) nephew (no surpise there), he has always gotten an allowance of about $100,000 a month, he sounds very spoiled, and I think Diana is making a huge mistake. It was a tiny bit refreshing to read the statement by his ex-wife, because she says he was not at all unfaithful during their (8 month) marriage. The jist of the article is that his family bagged a real trophy when Di became infatuated, and they know it and ar manipulating the situation behind the scenes, which makes me a little nauseous. On the other hand, Diana is purported to be sensible about money and honour, as the two are related, and Dodi has a little character problem in that regard.
They flew off together to get a reading from a psychic about their romance!!! I hope she was discouraging, but probably not. There is a warm, enveloping spiritual side to Diana that has hardly been developed, the part that cares about the victims of land mines, abused wives, AIDS victims, etc. I don't think a long relationship with Dodi would help her develop that side, and it would be a shame. I believe that left to her own devices, she will someday be known as Saint Diana, although it might take a couple of centuries to pull it off. I hope she doesn't get side-tracked!!! |
