Goalie, take a look at the following link

bday.co.za

Some interesting quotes:

" The marketing contract between state-owned diamond mine Alexkor and the Central Selling Organisation (CSO) would be terminated, Minerals
and Energy Minister Penuell Maduna announced in Parliament at the weekend.
Sources in his department said after the debate on the budget vote that Maduna, fresh from a visit from London, had learnt that Alexkor could fetch a better price for its diamonds outside the De Beers monopoly. Alexkor could give six months notice to terminate the contract."

And

" Maduna reaffirmed his belief in the advisability of the state owning mineral rights, as proposed in the green paper on mining and minerals policy. Private enterprise had not worked effectively in promoting development and had frustrated many potential foreign investors and small entrepreneurs"

Gee, sure looks like Infoman and Gull have his guy in their pocket, doesn't it.
