I HATE the E85 ethanol blend! Very few vehicles have the computer calibrations to get reasonable mileage when using it. I don't think any cars have it. If your vehicle doesn't have the E85 calibration, you will go through a tank about 10%+ faster than normal. I had to use it in Iowa last year. My highway mileage went from 32 to 27 for that tank.

That's bad enough but our tax dollars heavily subsidize the making of that crap! Why don't our wise leaders use those tax dollars to find another safe way to oxygenate gasoline, a way that INCREASES mileage rather than killing it.

One thing the article really doesn't make clear is that there is an MTBE shortage right now because of the NG problems. MTBE is made from Butane and Methane, and is used as an oxygenate similarly to ethanol. Difference is that MTBE has a much smaller effect on mileage.
