Here's a thought -- health care coverage in this country took a tremendous hit when Congress told them they couldn't turn uninsured people away from emergency rooms, Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act of 1986 (EMTALA).

Why pay into the insurance pool? If you have illness or injury, even catastrophic illness or injury, you're guaranteed treatment, and if you are not indigent, you can file for bankruptcy afterwards. If you are indigent, Medicaid will pick up.

I've seen this pattern over and over again in personal injury cases involving people at the bottom of the totem pole.
