For a while he had a contract with the PGA to do the surveying for the weekly "closest to the pin" contest. They would set up their instruments around the green and determine which golfer got to win a new car. One weekend one of the crew members was sick so he enlisted his brother, a dentist, to help out. After an hour's training they went to the golf course and he introduced his brother to the PGA officials. Then, in front of the officials, he asked his brother to go back to the truck and get a plumb bob. "What's a plumb bob?" replied his brother.
