Well it looks like the Canada-US free trade agreement (the legacy of Ronnie Raygun and Byron Muldoon) is being done away with by President Chimpy and Prime Minister Herpes.

It appears we've gone from "free trade" to "managed trade" as far as lumber goes. What's next to get "managed"? Steel? Zambonis? Strippers? Certainly not oil!

The Harper government had given the lumber industry until late Monday to back the agreement, which will return $4.3 billion , or about 80 percent of the duties collected by the United States, in exchange for managed trade.

What a disgrace... Joe Who could have cut a better deal! Still I'm sure Herpes will enjoy handing out the billion or so in windfall tax revenues.

As an aside, if Norma Bob Rae is successful in his bid to become leader of the gets to be leader of the Natural Ruling Party of Canada (God help us all!) and if he sits in the house, he will have the opportunity to repeat his performance of moving the motion that brings down a Conservative government.
