Similar thought Gordon: if there was some magic way to vaporize gas and get just the right mixture profile over time and space (inside the cylinder), don't you think it could be done better via electronically controlled fuel injection? Mind you, Orbital Engine has had a 'direct injection' method available for a long time, requiring modifying the chamber and ports, etc. as well, but they can't get entry into the marketplace very easily.... and I've quit following them. Now there's a stock that went nowhere for years, though it promises better fuel economy and lower emissions, and has been validated by field tests. Might make a dent with the water sport set (new EPA guidelines), and even BMW is playing with them. But OE's technology has more parts, is heavier, and takes up more space.
