Henry Blair, chief scientist for Chemical Detection Technology Inc.
(ChemTech) has accepted a private invitation to present his new VAMMP
technology to the Interlocation meeting of Lucent Technologies Inc.
on Nov. 15, according to Rodney Boone, CEO of ChemTech and its parent,
Loch Harris Inc. (OTCBB:LOCH).
The VAMMP (VAcuum Multi-constituent Monitor of Plasma) could save
millions in manufacturing semiconductors, according to Blair, by
monitoring and mapping plasma in real time, using proprietary
techniques he developed for the ELF (Eliminate Landmines Forever)
landmine detector now being tested by ChemTech.
"VAMMP should have a special and particular attraction to
Lucent's Microelectronics and Communications Technologies unit," said
Boone, "because of Lucent's prominence as a manufacturer of
semiconductor chips and devices."
Noting yesterday's Reuters report of Lucent's outstanding profits
("Lucent Profits Surpass Expectations Again"), Boone said Lucent
historically supports development and deployment of new and innovative
technologies. "We believe this to be a historical opportunity for
ChemTech and Loch Harris to present the merits of VAMMP to a
corporation whose tradition represents the most progressive of
attitudes," he said.
"VAMMP is currently under development at ChemTech's Tucson
laboratories and is expected to complete a prototype by May 2000,"
added Blair. "VAMMP will monitor and measure plasma constituents in
vacuum processing systems is real time using ultraviolet excitation."
Blair said he was confident of meeting that schedule because
VAMMP's "sister technology," the ELF, is developing ahead of its
original schedule. "ELF has successfully completed its preliminary
bench assembly tests and is awaiting delivery of calibrated explosive
samples to test its long-range capabilities," he said.
