Chip, when trading I really don't look for reasons why the market moves the way it does.

I just take the signals and hope for the best

I offer my opinion once in a while when I am asked and sometimes when I am not asked:)

Here are a couple of posts that I made about market direction/outlook -- today's action has not changed my mind.

Regarding the paper trading program that you are thinking of embarking on -- yes, it is a good primer of sorts. The only negative to it is that the pressures that one faces are very different when one is trading real money -- it changes the dynamics and when you graduate to trading real time using your own money, you'll see what I mean.

I tend to agree with Bob's post regarding the immediate outlook for the market -- we should see a rally of sorts at some point tomorrow and then another couple of days of decline before we know that a bottom is in place. I agree with GZ that we probably do have a bottom in place around today's lows -- but in the ultimate analysis I'll follow the signals generated by my system. As OJ says, it takes all the "noise" out of the equation.

Good luck with the program
