I was at MetaSoftware working on new and exciting technology, which we demo'd at DAC last year, this year we weren't there - thanks to Avant!. You probably won't see anything comparable for quite a while. Similarly, I worked on Chronologic's VCS for a year under Viewlogic trying to get the parallel processing version up to product quality. It's not available now either - I left due to internal politics (rather than it not working). As for its future at Synopsys - who knows. Generally (IMNSHO) big companies buying little companies is good for the share-holders of the little company, good for long-term holders of the big company stock (cause they stay in business) and bad for customers. PS: I've also (more recently) worked with CDN in comittees defining new simulation standards (for IC design). The guys from CDN seem to work towards maintaining there current products as de-facto standards rather than helping define standards that work better/properly. Kev.
