Moenmac: << How the U.S. and the U.K. Should Respond >>
Wow: What a powerful and accurate presentation of the terrorist problem...
Dealing with discontents has been a problem from the beginning of written history. That is both internal, and external to each Nation, as evidenced by continual revolts of forces in Cuba, in South America, in Russia, in France, et al.
War is apparently a more normal condition of human activity than is peace. And so we should be prepared as the US has attempted rather successfully to be since WW11.
Lableing this as a War is a somewhat misleading term but it is the best that can be done at the moment. War implies major military action, which was needed, but does not typically include the operations needed within each nation to control extremists.
Despite (our countries) keen desire to end dissension without killing people, that is dream yet to be realized. People in civilized and progressive nations must be assured that their lives and work and futures must be worthwhile, useful, and lead to better and safer lives. And good governments provide that assurance. Now that the Peace and feeling of safety we have had in Britain and the US has been thoroughly shattered, governments will find it easier to get citizen support and legal support needed to take action. And despite the arrogance and misleading statements of the Press, their work accomplishes one useful thing- it provides a continual reminder that citizens must pay price, must contribute a portion of their work and pay as an insurance - as the cost of freedom.
