Stuff about trading
you may have missed

Dow Jones No Longer "Industrial"
--------------------------------

Sears (S), Union Carbide (UK), Goodyear Tire (GT)
and Chevron (CHV) got kicked out of the Dow Jones
Industrial average.

Microsoft (MSFT), Intel (INTC), SBC Communications
(SBC) and Home Depot (HD) will be added in their
place.

MSFT and INTC represent the first Nasdaq listed
stocks to ever be added to the Dow Jones.

This is significant in the sense that companies
like MSFT and INTC represent a large portion of the
economy and that technology is finally being
recognized for the role it plays in our society.

Just goes to show that the smoke stack industrial
index is giving way to change.

Compaq (CPQ) Beats Earnings Estimates
-------------------------------------

Earnings for the last quarter were .02 cents better
than expected. Compaq may be on hard times but the
company hasn't lost its ability to pull the wool
over the eyes of Wall Street analysts. They
reported earnings of .07 AFTER they talked analysts
down.

Here's how the game works. CPQ insiders know that
they're in a squeeze, maybe temporary, maybe not.
But it's ALWAYS a great PR move to beat the
"Street's" earnings estimates.

So CPQ warns Wall Street that they'll report
earnings lower that what Wall Street expected in an
attempt to get the brokerage firm analysts to lower
their earnings estimates to a number CPQ knows it
can beat.

Ebay (EBAY) beat earnings estimates by a penny, but
missed the four-cent whisper number by two cents.
The stock sold off more than 10 in after-hours
trading.

What a joke whisper numbers are. You want to get
killed trading stocks during reports of earnings?
Just hang on to them and wait to see if they beat
the "whisper".

The whisper number is the most mis-understood
concept related to earnings. You don't even need it
to trade profitably.

Tricks of the Trade members know how to get 2 to 10
point profits out of stocks during earnings season
WITHOUT wasting time searching for whisper numbers.

I can barely type that word "whisper number"
without laughing. When you're ready to start
making money trading I'll show you how to do it.

Here's a great story you may have missed.

In fact, by the time you read it, it will be old news.
As I'm writing this email the market is not yet
open.

It's Wednesday morning about 6:00 am mountain time.

FFIV was expected to report -.05 that's right a
loss of a nickle a share. They actually reported
.11 and the stock is bid up through the roof. Wall
Street really nailed this one.

pull with their earnings reports?

Sometimes learning to trade isn't about learning
NEW techniques.

It's more about learning the way things work on
Wall Street, learning what you don't need and what
not to do.

You don't need to sit in front of a computer all
day.

You don't need complex technical software.

You don't need half the stuff you might think you
do.

And lately, we've had more Tricks of the Trade
members tell us after they've read our trading
manuals that they STOPPED doing what they were
doing that wasn't working AND they learned WHY it
never worked for them. The light bulb went off in
their head - that is the sign of a true education.

Speaking of memberships, here's the details (prices,
what you get, our Iron-Clad guarantee, the hour you
get to spend on the phone with me, and so on):
