Premenos demonstrates interoperability with latest release of electronic
commerce software

CommerceNet tests confirm templar users can exchange Internet EDI messages with
other vendors' software

CONCORD, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 24, 1997--Premenos, a leading provider of electronic commerce solutions
for established and emerging trading communities, today announced the general availability of Templar version 2.1 featuring
enhancements that facilitate the interoperable exchange of EDI over the Internet.

Successful results of ongoing interoperability tests announced in January by CommerceNet, the premier industry association
for Internet commerce, confirm that users can send and receive EDI messages over the Internet using software from multiple
vendors, including Premenos' Templar. Premenos was one of five participating vendors to exchange the digitally-signed
data.

"For Internet EDI to reach critical mass, vendors have to embrace the users' prerogative to choose among software
alternatives and expect that one package will communicate with others," said Rik Drummond, of The Drummond Group and
technical director of CommerceNet's interoperability initiative. "Premenos continues to develop Templar using open Internet
standards, facilitating the diverse software configurations that inevitably appear in trading communities."

"Our development approach has always been to incorporate adopted and emerging Internet standards in Templar," said Greg
Vesper, director of Templar and EDI/Open product management. "We're pleased to participate in CommerceNet's initiative to
promote Internet commerce and want our customers to know that Templar is a powerful open solution for multi-vendor
facilitated trading community."

About Templar

Templar, unveiled in May 1995, is the first commercially available authentication agent to provide secure, auditable
business-to-business EDI over open networks. In addition to interoperability, Templar 2.1 supports the latest releases of
Sybase and Oracle databases.

Templar software is a layer between the transport agent, such as SMTP and MIME, and the EDI translation software to
ensure confidentiality, integrity, authentication, and non-repudiation of both origin and receipt of messages. Templar
software also provides operations management, including trading partner set-up, designation of communication and security
requirements, key management, and transaction tracking.
