Bush Derangement Syndrome (BDS) - the disease that keeps on giving Roger L Simon At first I thought Jonathan Chait was joking devoting an entire column to criticizing Bush's supposedly excessive interest in physical fitness. But no, Mr. Chait is actually serious: Am I the only person who finds this disturbing? I don't mean the fact that Bush would vet his selection for the highest court in the land in part on something utterly trivial. That's expected. What I mean is the fact that Bush has an obsession with exercise that borders on the creepy. Creepy? Not projecting there, are we? I wouldn't be surprised if Mr. Chait is one of those "hard-hitting journos" who previously criticized Americans for being overweight. But I don't know for sure because I wouldn't waste my time, even a minute on Google, to research anyone this banal. Nevertheless for Chait (or any of his cohorts) to change his opinion about something just because Bush is on one side or another is now the hallmark of BDS. For example, who knows what the author of this column would think of seersucker suits were someone else wearing them? Myself, I kind of like seersucker. But I don't suffer from BDS.
