Blockbuster to Buy Remainder of PC Upgrades
Blockbuster Entertainment is expected to purchase the remainder of the PC Upgrades chain in which it made a minority investment last year, sources said. The deal could be closed within the next few weeks, the sources said. Blockbuster is expected to make a significant investment to expand the chain, which currently consists of two Cincinnati-based stores.

Blockbuster has in recent months been laying the groundwork for expansion, both as a chain of standalone stores and within the company's Blockbuster stores. Blockbuster's investment was based largely on the belief that a large market in DVD upgrades will develop in the next several years, Richard Furse, founder and chief executive officer of PC Upgrades, said in an interview last year.

Furse recently resigned from PC Upgrades and returned to his native England, sources said. He could not be reached for comment.
