Dave, I bought a few 32 MB MMC's on www.buy.com to "upgrade"
the I-Jam's I bought for my niece and my wife.

I think I paid $72.00 each.

The way these Internet store fronts work is they all rely on a few larger companies that specialize in inventory/logistics/fulfillment. For example, buy.com and onvia.com likely rely on Ingram Micro as a "middle man". The store fronts take the orders over the Internet, forward the orders to a central supplier (Ingram Micro or Tech Data, for example), take a percentage of the sale, and let the "middle man" worry about the supply and logistics issues.

Larger organizations like Amazon probably keep their own warehouse stocked and also take on the final execution of the sale.

I am going to bet that the Ingram Micro's and the FedEx/UPS's of the world will do a lot better than the Internet store fronts.

If SanDisk is sold out of 32 MB MMC it is probably because of OEM demands. They can't ship the players without them being functional. For example, every I-Jam comes with two 16 MB MMC's. If SanDisk is sold out of MMC it is great for SanDisk, but bad for the consumer and the OEM's. Well, keep looking around for MMC. If you really need a card badly, just p-mail me and I'll see what I can do.

If my notes are correct, Eli is predicting $200 million in total revenues from MMC & SDMC this year. That is an awesome number when you compare it to 1999 total annual revenues from all sources.
