I see that all the time at the track. I met a girl who swore that if you always bet #7 in the dog races, you always win. She proceeded to win several in a row. I was laughing. Then #7 stopped coming in and I never saw her again.

But newbies will pick by the color of the silks or whether or not the horse's mane is braided. And they are usually right. At first. Then, it stops.

Ditto for casinos. Newcomers will walk in and clean them out the first night. Then, as the saying goes, they came to town in a $25,000 Toyota Camry and are leaving in a $200,000 Greyhound Bus. <G>

I would like to get the details of that IBM plan. There is always something these guys leave out of the telling of stories like that.
