To All:

I have been selected by Nielsen to keep a diary of my TV viewing for a week. For this service I am getting paid one dollar. I realize this isn't much but on the other hand no one is paying you a dollar to know what you watch. But that is beside the point. The main reason I am writing is to let you folks know if you think TV is a vast wasteland now, wait until I skew the data.
So many of the programs offered are hideous. And that is the stuff I am putting down I watch. For just paying me a buck they can't expect me to be truthful. For that matter it is pretty unreasonable to expect that for any amount. So while I watch Mad Men, Downton Abbey, or Breaking Bad, I am putting down I am watching the 109th rerun of Ancient Aliens. The show where the aliens taught humans to use complex tools like hammer stones and sharp rocks, complex tools like levers, and sophisticated weapons like clubs and pointed sticks.
And daytime TV is better still, I want a Honey Boo Boo marathon, Jerry Springer "My Girl Friend is Leaving Me for a Tranny", fashion by Paris Hilton, and Kim Kardasian on relationships.
To make sure I get all the shows I am telling Nielsen I have four TVs with a Native American, White, Black, and an Asian watching them. Some daytime TV is going to take that many TV's to catch the best.
So when you see the TV ratings and think "What were people thinking when they watched this stuff?"
You will know.
