There are a lot of the great fools, and new ones come continously. That is why the price of biotech companies could jump several folds suddenly then come back to earth slowly, as GERN did last year. That is why investors willing to buy biotech company for long hold and waiting for the possible jump, which provides great opportunity for the shorters.
