Hamas and PLO Gun Battle in Gaza (IsraelNationalNews.com) The PLO and Hamas militias were engaged last night in a fierce firefight in the town of Beit Lahiya in Gaza. The confrontation was allegedly sparked off by PLO attempts to prevent Hamas terrorists from shelling Israeli targets with mortars, although earlier reports indicated it may have been the result of PLO attempts to prevent the delivery of a public speech by a Hamas terrorist. Hamas is claiming that there has been one fatality and 17 injuries as a result of the clashes, thus far; whereas, the PLO is reporting four injured Arab militiamen from each side.
