>>>This is dual-use diplomacy. Used to make war on Saddam's WMDs, it's alternately employed as succour to a Pakistan exposed for what it is — Western ally and blackmarket profiteer from the business of building bombs for a bazaar that spans almost all the countries in the West's axis of evil: Iran, Libya, North Korea.

In September 2002, Tony Blair told parliament that Saddam had "bought or attempted to buy specialised vacuum pumps of the design needed for the gas centrifuge cascade to enrich uranium, an entire magnet production line of the specification for use in the motors and top bearings of gas centrifuges, dual-use products such as anhydrous hydrogen fluoride".

But Blair neglected to mention that Pakistan had also been busy for much of the 80s and 90s buying up the high- tech kit of parts needed for WMDs. And they'd been coming to Britain, their retailer of choice.

As the joke goes, Britain has all those itemised till receipts detailing Abdul Qadeer Khan's shopping expeditions for dual-use goods, which can be used in civilian production processes just as much as WMD-related ones.<<<
