Everyone with a jacket is ipso facto a potential bomber. Not to mention everyone carrying a back pack, or some other container.

If any look "shifty" they'll have to be shot to save the innocent bystanders.

You can see that isn't going to work well.

Making backpacks illegal wouldn't be enough. Suitcases will have to be banned too. As will any running movements.

Heck, the much vaunted drivel about continuing to live our lives normally is thrown to the wind.

The security people are loving it. This is like a race-car driver being given the green light to go for it, right there on the normal roads. We can predict the result. Authoritarians just love authority and the age-old "external enemy" is the dream situation for ramping up the state security apparatus, pay rates, fancy hats and badges, bigger budgets, weapons and cart blanche.

Hooray for the bombers!!

No, no, I'm NOT endorsing bombers [the new laws will perhaps make my comment a crime - so much for freedom of speech]. I'm just expressing the joy of the police and security people. Everyone with skills likes the chance to play their game. Imagine practising golf for decades and never getting off the putt-putt courses at beach resorts.

PS: What with the dopey bombers failing to light their bombs and the dopey police shooting the wrong guy, The Simpsons looks like it could cover the situation.
