But making the decision that your teenage daughter must bear her child does not go into that realm. I don't think you're going to change many minds with that argument. It's extremely doubtful that in the USA, courts would side with parents who decide that a daughter should bear a child against her will. Ireland, maybe, although I think that law was changed. Italy, maybe. Not America. A better argument is that a child may not be able to select the best health care provider, so her parents' resources may be helpful to her, even though she doesn't realize it. There are unscrupulous and incompetent people in the abortion business, like any other business. An even better argument is that she may be afraid of her parents without reason. I'd vote for an exception that gave a daughter the right to ask a family court judge for an immediate hearing on whether she needs to notify her parents or whether the court will appoint a special guardian to help her through the process. The family courts are available almost every day to hear emergency petitions for protection from abuse and neglect.
