Worldwide server market revenues fell 3% in the 3Q as the industry faced pricing pressure but shipments remained robust, increasing 15%, an industry report said Thursday. SUN MICROSYSTEMS continued to move past competitors and increase market share while DELL COMPUTER saw strong revenues growth. IBM ranked first in revenues, followed by HEWLETT-PACKARD, their revenues growing at 20% and 17% year over year, respectively. COMPAQ COMPUTER came in third after a bad quarter for the company's server business, the report said. Sun Microsystems landed in the No. 4 spot for server vendors when measured by revenue. Japanese server vendors such as Fujitsu Ltd, NEC CORP and HITACHI all posted steep double digit declines in server revenues.

I would like to see those revenues increase. I wonder if the survey included other customer sales and services (ie. consulting services, storage products, software applications etc.). Perhaps if this basis is used, SUNW total "invoiced" revenues exceed the other vendors.
