How would they actually clean up the small arms people have? House to house searches of people with registered weapons?

I see two problems right away. Far too many guns owners to search homes etc It seems like a similar problem the government faces with the millions of illegal aliens. Can't possibly round them all up and send them all back.

Secondly if a government were successful in confiscating all registered weapons then aside from the non-registered weapons, only criminals and the governments would have guns. Very difficult for me to imagine. Very deadly too.
