Alex and others: The use of ozone in treating municipal water is not new. More than 200 municipalities currently use ozone for that purpose. Among them: the City of Los Angeles, Milwaukee (because of the deaths from Cryptosporidum), Orlando, and more than 197 others. Vast amounts of research has been conducted by American WaterWorks and other credible third party research institutes. Some municipalities use it instead of chlorine; some use it with just a little chlorine; but all that use ozone use it to kill contaminates that chlorine just can't get. Also, ozone gets rid of that nasty "sulphur" smell that is prevalent in some water (i.e. Orlando). Glad to hear that Washington, DC is thinking of adopting it.
