I understand that the Altium 311 is based on their
velocity chipset which helps them keep their costs
down. I also gather that they're migrating some
other products (including a DXR 45 Mbps radio) to
the velocity chipset. Overall, STXN remains quite
concious of their manufacturing costs and I think
they are successful in keeping these costs lower
than their competitors. As a consequence, they can
offer competitive prices while maintaining higher
margins. In the case of the Altium 311, I expect
it to maintain a similar margin to the Altium 155
but offer significantly lower cost-per-megabit of
transmission capacity... customers should love this
so STXN should continue to grab market share which
only adds to their economies of scale - all while
remaining profitable with a positive cash flow
and no debt. This is a great company!
