Ashok,
There should be many more vendors heading to the ADSL technology. Westell and Amati will be the leader in this market for sometime (next 3 or 4 years). Westell is leading for ADSL/CAP and they 're also want to market ADSL/DMT, that why they came to Motorola for the chips. Amati is the champion in ADSL/DMT, since the ADSL/CAP was out there sometime (last 3 years) therefore Westell is ahead of the game and I think ADSL/CAP will also be standarized sometime in the near future. At this time only ADSL/DMT is standarized in US and European, and European countries do not like ADSL/CAP, they won't even talk about ADSL/CAP and this is bad new for Westell and the good news is they getting into the ADSL/DMT. THis means more royalty to Amati who is holding the patent of ADSL/DMT.
Aware, Orkik, Adtran, Pairgain, etc.. those are the vendors also after the ADSL technology. This technology is so hot that I think next year it will hit about more than 1 billion in revenue for those companies and may be triple or quadle in 1998. It will be the race between cables modem and ADSL next year and I believed all the telco will be in the race for both technology in order to compete with the cables companies.
