I posted this earlier, but nobody responded.

re: Divicom's encoder posted by J Fieb.

Does anybody know whats the number of news stations around the globe? I know Turner has a lot of field news crews all over the world. And, that's just Ted Turner alone. How about other powerhouse like British Telecomm, JBC, News Corp, NBC, ABC, etc.? not to mention local news crew who sent live-video of the OJ Simpson chase, the LA riot, and the Oaklahoma bombing, etc.

J Fieb posted that Divicom's vehicle mounted encoders will provide savings for these news stations by reducing their satellite usage and, thus, transmission expense. I wish can I see some detailed specs of this new product. Can it be used to broadcast sports events?

analog video takes up too much satellite usage. Divicom seems to be aiming at providing savings for these broadcasting companies by enabling them to encode video on site before sending it up to the satellite.

I wish somebody can report from NAB -- I guess not from George Clinton cuz ESST wont be there.

P.S.-- anybody know how much transmission fee it costs to use satellite time?
