The explanatory power of the words "good", "evil" and "instinct" when used to illuminate behavior are approximately equal to zero. Try substituting three colors instead. After you have grown comfortable with the colors, you will find yourself equally happy with the outcome.

That is probably one of the more stupid posts I've ever read on SI.

If a man sees a child helpless in a rushing stream and jumps in to save his life, you may wish to call that behavior "orange". I call it "good".

If a man kidnaps a young woman, holds her captive for 10 days while torturing her and repeatedly raping her, then cuts her body up and throws it in a trash bin, you may wish to call that behavior "blue". I call it "evil".

If I inadvertently place my hand on a hot stove and quickly withdraw it, you may wish to call that behavior "purple". I call it "instinct".

As Rush so often says, words mean things. Much as you might wish to have words mean whatever you want them to mean, Wonderland fortunately exists only in your fevered liberal imagination.
