How real is that threat?

I've given this some thought, as you can tell by my posts with John.

Like John, I think we are a long way from any possibility of the teabaggers' becoming militarized.

But on the slim chance that they eventually do, I'm inclined to think it would look nothing like the first Civil War.

Since the armament gap between them and US Armed Forces is so great, and since it is not centered in any one geographic region, any serious militant movement would need to resort to civil disobedience and asymmetric sabotage-style attacks rather than open combat.

If ten million or more refuse to file taxes, and disregard other select federal laws, they could cause some disarray.

Domestic sabotage would be much harder to control and they could conceivably keep the feds tied in knots and the citizenry panicked for some time.

Do I think they will go this far? Most likely not.

But if they continue to become more and more alienated, and if the economy truly hits the crapper, anything is possible.

Then that demagogue wouldn't need much charisma.
