<<<A good actor, I miss him.>>>
Me, too.
The first time I saw Network I was in Paris and went to an English version with French subtitles. It was hard to keep from reading the French and comparing to the actual dialogue. A reverse process to what we usually experience.
As for being mad as hell, it's not the company I'm mad at but the market makers and momentum players. The company's fine. When I talked to RC today, he said the board is being extremely conscientious in scrutinizing possible partnerships and in weeding out those that are fluff. (Remember Pairgain.) They refuse to sell the company down the river to satisfy anxious shareholders because in the end it's the shareholders who will lose out if the deals don't deliver. The one we were all expecting may not materialize. Then again, it may. As it stands, it's not a good deal for Amati and if they settle for these terms, they would have to re-do the partnerships already in place. They're also negotiating with some far bigger companies. And Tac still claims there are several ready to go, awaiting sign off. I'm not holding my breath, but I do know they're saving the product announcements for InterOp.
I'm not sure why phone calls weren't returned today but rumor has it a group from Cisco spent most the day there. I imagine everyone was pretty busy. Hey, I phoned RC before eight this morning and his secretary bit my head off she was so up tight. "Whoa!" I wanted to say, "Hormones out of balance????" But I didn't. I don't throw gasoline on fires either.
And then there was Globespan out there claiming they were the only ones delivering the goods at the MCI trials. Well, heck, of course they were the only ones providing data and internet transmissions. That's because they weren't capable of providing broadcast video. A fact they failed to mention.
On top of that they came out with press saying they were making progress with their own committee. They brought out the old mangy raccoon coat, too --- the argument that the standard was awarded for DMT based on its ability to transmit VOD and therefore wasn't applicable to data and multimedia. It's such a ludicrous argument I won't even waste my breath on it here. If they had an argument that made sense, maybe some one would listen.
And last of all, Cisco announced it was buying a small ISDL company. Ford and GM don't just offer one car each season, they offer a whole line-up, from the most economical all the way up to the most luxurious. That's what Cisco's doing, too. They announced the stripped down Pinto so let's not jump out the window yet.
Cheers!
Pat
