Good point Jochen. But I'm not convinced that tv will keep the masses compliant for many decades. Unemployment works while there's a cheque to cash. What happens if the economic system starts to creak and groan and crumble under the competitive economic forces from India and China which don't pay vast fees to the lazy who won't work for a reasonable pay rate. A reasonable pay rate being the going market rate, even if it is only $1 a hour, or a day, which it isn't in Germany.

Where there is unemployment, there are problems.
