Now I wonder if the evil might not have been more in how society responded to them instead. I've learned that understanding things is more important than labelling them.

You need to be careful about how far you go in "understanding" people who are out to do you in. That leads to the madness in Britain where they "understand" Imans who preach the destruction of their society. We just gave one of those types in Virginia a life sentence. "Understanding" is not a suicide pact.

We have got in trouble here by trying to "understand" gangbangers who shoot at people from freeway overpasses because they didn't have enough after-school programs to keep them straight.

History shows that almost all societies have not tried to "understand" homosexuality. This instinctive reaction is at almost a genetic level. We need to be careful when we fool with mother nature.
