Lou Dobbs Retracted His Wild Election Machine Claims Last Night Because Fox Was Being Threatened With a Lawsuit

There are a number of hosts on Fox’s channels willing to back up Donald Trump’s election claims. But while some anchors have begrudgingly begun to admit that Biden will take the White House, Lou Dobbs has not.

Al Seib/Los Angeles Times via Getty ImagesEach night, the Fox Business host has been more and more willing to push theories about fraud and voting machines. He’s also welcomed on guests like Sidney Powell, Donald Trump’s lunatic former lawyer.

But Friday night featured a strange segment as Dobbs basically fact checked all his claims. According to the Washington Post, this is because Fox was being threatened legally by voting machine manufacturer Smartmatic.

Dobbs brought on a open source software expert on voting named Eddie Perez. Perez outlined that there is not proof for any fraud claims about voting machines. Dobbs then asked, “Smartmatic says its software was never used outside of L.A. County in 2020. Do you know whether or not that’s true?”

The elections expert responded, “That is my understanding.”

According to the Post, this segment was due to a letter sent by Smartmatic. The letter read:

“Fox News has engaged in a concerted disinformation campaign against Smartmatic. Fox News told its millions of viewers and readers that Smartmatic was founded by [the late Venezuelan President] Hugo Chávez, that its software was designed to fix elections, and that Smartmatic conspired with others to defraud the American people and fix the 2020 U.S. election by changing, inflating, and deleting votes.”

Over the weekend, the fact checking segments will also be run on Maria Bartiromo and Jeanine Pirro’s show.
