A different way to look at mining companies can be found at corporateknights.ca. Go to their home page to read the full story that goes with it.

These guys publish an interesting magazine that attempts to promote socially-responsible investing but not from an anti-corporate viewpoint. A main cornerstone of their approach is that corporations that follow ethical guidelines also tend to do well financially.

They have become quite influential in Canada.

This issue, which I get free with the Globe and Mail, also contains an excellent feature on Canadian oil companies operating in conflict zones, but that doesn't seem to have made it into the online version at their website.
