Trimming down bandwidth requirements ...

I use IE 4.0, and with this browser, click View and select Internet Options. Click the Advanced tab, and scroll down to the MultiMedia section. Just un-check the stuff you don't want.

While you're there, check the other selections for things you may want to change too.

People tell me that IE 5.? locates the same stuff under Tools instead of View.

When I used Netscape, the process was somewhat easier, but I cannot remember how it was done.
