Go CNTO!

FDA Advisory Panel (posted by: Ednorman)
May 28 1998 2:12PM EDT

I have a source in the meeting who reported during the lunch break that CNTO has completed their presentation. All safety and efficacy data was as expected. The one lymphoma case that occurred in the trails was a 61 year old man who had been on heavy steroids for many years, and therefore had a weakened immune system.

The best news is that CNTO is asking for a label for the indication of "active Crohn's disease". If they get it, there are a million patients in the US and over a million in Europe. this is a much broader indication than the "moderate-to-severe Crohn's disease" which is what all the analysts expected.

The meeting reconvened at 1:20. I should have an update at 2:30-2:45 and will post it

Update (posted by: Ednorman)

The FDA presentation was identical to CNTO's in all respects. there were no statistical discrepancies relating to either safety or efficacy. The FDA "sliced and diced" the data several ways to see if it would change. It didn't. The questions so far have been routine, and it appears to my contact that they're going to get the broader label indication.

Next update, 4:30 - 5:00

CNTO will hold an analyst meeting this evening.
