konrad, Do you really think a modem application will be stealing valuable CPU time from a CAD application? You must be joking!

Intel's marketing plan is to convince consumers to keep buying the latest technology conviently (for Intel's bottom line) priced at $2000 to $2500 dollars. AMD and Cyrix want a piece of the pie, and will drive the price down to get it.

Integrating functions like modems, and graphics (as Cyrix has done with the MediaGX Processor), is a good way to woo the Tier 1 suppliers from an Intel only stance. Once the public sees these other suppliers produce good value computers, the secret will be out and know amount of advertising will change all the publics opinion on that.

The AMD K6 is going to win some business from some frugal Tier 1 supplier. If I were you, I would consider what this news will do to AMD's share price and Intels share price. I think the answer is fairly obvious. There will be better Intel buying opportunities soon. I am not predicting a total Intel meltdown, but a sizeable correction is still in order.

Historically, Intel has traded at 12 to 16 times earnings, only recently did that multiple increase. I expect Intel to earn $8.00 to $10.00 a share as long as Intel doesn't try to prohibit AMD from gaining significant market share. If that happens, then look out!
