Ed and all, Today is the first day in a very long time where I didn't get disconnected while online. I only tried it on MSN so far but my husband said he didn't have any problem on AOL either. It looks like unchecking those little boxes might have done the trick. Too bad one of the many techs that I spoke to at Dell didn't think of it. Thanks again everyone for all of your help. Susie
