There is no upper bound to wealth. It's limited only by imagination. Depending on what 'wealth' means. So the USA is likely to continue the huge wealth increase from The New Paradigm. I guess democracy will call a halt to it one day.

The lower bound is poverty the instant before death and that is always at zero + 0.00000001.

So the gap is bound to increase for both countries and individuals, just as it has always increased. Which is why we look more like humans than chimps [though we are not much different yet].

Let's hope the gap increases more and more and more and faster and faster. The poor don't get poorer. The well-off just get better-off. The better-off then drag the rest along because they invent amazing things like CDMA cellphones which people who can barely count can afford to buy with their low-paid jobs.

Poor countries keep themselves poor. There is always a suggestion that they are poor because the rich countries don't give them stuff. They need more cargo and then they'll be rich too.

Nobody except Indians are keeping India poor. Rwandans running around with machetes is not the way to improve the GNP per capita. Nor will Somalis dragging dead American soldiers around the city improve their lot. Nor will Chechyans decapitating New Zealanders going about their normal business get much sympathy from me. Nor the IRA bombing tourist facilities, ripping some NZ children apart -I hope the Sinn Fein chief thug gets some missing limbs and more in a bomb one day.

Even places like Saudi Arabia with vast resource wealth are tending to pour it down the drain and get in debt and can easily head into the poor house again. Japan, Switzerland, Luxembourg and others with no resources are rich.

Okay, rant off....
