You may be right and then again you not be right. What is it worth to THQI to have a more stable stock price....re use of shares to make acquisitions etc?

Everyone who votes receives a proxy form. There could be a coupon printed on the proxy form. Longs who allowed their shares to be lent would not normally get the proxy form hence would be surrendering their coupons to the new owner.

Companies implement DRIP so why not bonus for receiving a proxy. Slightly different from bonus for voting but just another way to slice the onion.
