Mike ,
Here is a link that voices IDC feelings on B-CDMA . It is a letter to the editor written 11/15/96. It is in response to comments made by QCOM about b-cdma in an article that was published 09/15/96. You can use the key word Interdigital and read QCOM's side of the story too but I think this article provides a link also. With regards to the patent issue between the two companies and what QCOM got from IDC I beleive it was the patents for the soft hand off which I think are revelant. If you called the phone number to hear both a GSM call and a CDMA call the difference is in CDMA's favor. The GSM phone made the caller sound like he had hic-ups. That was the hand off when the user was going out of range of one antenna and was handed off to another. With CDMA you don't hear that at all . Also the GSM phone had what I call a water fall effect. It sounded like water running in the background. B-CDMA as you will see doesn't even require a hand off. Interdigital came out yesterday with a anti take over measure to assure share holders of getting fair value for their stock.
